After, months of work and tweaking I have finally managed to find a balance that has allowed to get back running regularly. Finally getting back to the point that resembles fitness, it has been a year of on and off running, I can’t wait to get some free time over the summer months, actually to do some decent running.
Even if it is just a gradually upping the mileage with some long runs, I am hoping to venture to a few trails soon, to take a break from road running on the same old loops. I might even start back doing some real training again.
The last month has been quite positive in terms run times and overall fitness, despite having to take a three-week break due to Achilles’ woes. I have managed to bounce back surprisingly faster than I had anticipated. One thing that I am struggling with is pacing, something I used to be quite good but lately, I find myself running too fast, too soon and burning out - definitely needs improving.
Other than that I am on an upward trend, today’s run on my ~5km loop was the quickest I have run on that route since 2012, back when I could call myself an athlete - 😏- although it probably took a lot less effort back then. Either way, it’s an improvement, so onwards and upwards - hopefully!
